WELCOME TO APA VILLA ILLUKETIA
Nestled in a lush, verdant slice of jungle just inland from Galle, Illuketia is an oasis for the traveller seeking rejuvenation. The botanical wonderland is rich with a diversity of flora and fauna, that contribute to the surrounding harmony of sights and sounds.
The Villa began as an old Colonial house tweaked to be a luxury hotel and was built to offer a new level of luxury and sophistication. Illuketia has six luxury suites that feature colonial architecture and neo-tropical style,
ensuring a pampered and private stay.
Whether enjoying the seven green acres surrounding the property or swimming pool hidden amongst tall trees, trying the delicious fare or simply relaxing on the veranda with a cocktail, you are bound to quickly feel overcome by Illuketia sensuous aura.
THE RESTAURANT
We offer Sri Lankan, South-East Asian, and Western fare with an emphasis on freshness. All vegetables are locally sourced, many from Illuketia own greenhouse. All meats and fish are prepared the same day they are procured - fresh from the market. Our attentive kitchen staff are ever ready to adapt to your dietary needs and preferences. Cooking lessons are available for guests keen to add Sri Lankan flavor to their repertoire. We are also happy to welcome you as a visitors in our restaurant. Please book them in advance with the kitchen or reception.
FOREST BATHING
“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.” - John Muir
The 7 lush acres of jungle, garden, and paddy surrounding the villas are a dream to explore. A vibrant community of plants and animals contribute to the vivid sights and symphony of sounds throughout the greenery.
Your inner scientist will be interested to know the numbers of species recorded on the property: over 170 birds, 60 amphibians and reptiles, 20 mammals and 556 plants make up its biodiverse community.
THE GREENHOUSE
In a conscious effort to ensure guests eat as fresh and healthy as possible, Illuketia set up a drip-irrigated greenhouse in 2010. A variety of lovingly grown organic greens and vegetables like bell peppers, cabbage and cucumbers come straight from our farm to your table.
HANS' GALLERY
Throughout his life, Hans Hoefer has delighted in capturing the wonder and beauty of his travels through his unique lens, using his writing and art. While traveling the world for 30 years, Hans painted, photographed and published a guide-book series ‘insight guides’ on over 120 countries. One of his favorite companions was his Polaroid SX 70 camera. He created a series of striking pictures by carefully manipulating the polaroids, first manually and later electronically, resulting in unique pieces of lithography that Hans dubbed his ‘Photoworks’. Limited edition prints are exhibited and sold at the Hans' Gallery.
